Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 Officially Unveiled; Arrives As A Downclocked Version Of Snapdragon 7s Gen 2

Last month Qualcomm officially unveiled its latest Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset and now the company has silently unveiled Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 SoC. This all new chipset  is nothing but  a downclocked version of Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 that made its debut last year.

Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 arrived with 4 Cortex A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and 4 Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.95GHz whereas Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 features 4 Cortex A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and 4 Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. Also Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 supports 144Hz refresh rate at FHD+ resolution but Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 support 120Hz refresh rate at FHD+ resolution. Rest other features are almost similar, lets take a look.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3: Features

This chipset likely uses the Adreno 710 GPU, For AI, it includes Qualcomm Kryo CPU, Qualcomm Hexagon NPU and Qualcomm Sensing Hub. It supports 5G Modem RF System, downlink up to 2.9Gbps, WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

In the camera section, it arrives with support for Qualcomm Spectra Image Signal processor, triple 12 bits ISPs that enable support for up to 48MP single sensor, 32+16MP dual camera sensors , up to 16MP triple camera sensors and up to 200MP photo capture. It supports features like Hardware based Multi Frame Noise reduction, Hardware based Locally Motion Compensated Temporal Filtering, staggered HDR image sensors, AI based face detection, auto focus and autoexposure.

It incorporates features such as Snapdragon sound with Qualcomm Aqstic, aptX lossless audio codecs for high quality, Total Harmonic Distortion and Snapdragon Sound Technology suite. Security features include- Trust Management Engine, Qualcomm wireless edge services, Qualcomm Type-1 hyperviser and Platform Security Foundations and Qualcomm Trusted Execution Environment.

It supports Quick Charge 4+ technology, LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It includes GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo, QZSS, NavIC, dual frequency GNSS and sensor assisted positioning.
