Samsung’s Upcoming Galaxy A16 5G Spotted on Malaysian SIRIM Certification Platform: Launch Nearing

Last month we exclusively revealed the design and specifications of the next Galaxy A16 5G smartphone of Samsung and following this, we are back with another update for our anticipated readers. Samsung’s Galaxy A16 5G device has made it to the SIRIM certification platform of Malaysia, pointing to its nearing launch.

Samsung Galaxy A16 5G – SIRIM Certification

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy A16 5G has appeared on the SIRIM database with model number – ‘SM-A166P/DS’, and it has been certified with type approval code – ‘RGQL/66H/1024/S(24-4489)’. It has been categorized under the mobile phone section and the moniker has been mentioned. The certification validity will be till the 1st of October 2025.

Previously, the Galaxy A16 5G with the same model number of ‘SM-A166P/DS’ was spotted on the Geekbench database. It had also appeared on the TUV Rheinland certification platform, however, with different model numbers of ‘SM-A166B/DS’, ‘SM-A1660’, ‘SM-A166E/DS’, ‘SM-A166M/DS’, and ‘SM-A166M’.

Coming to our exclusive report, it was understood that Samsung plans to retain its same or similar design language for the Galaxy A16 5G as always, and it will arrive in color choices of Light Green, Blue Black, and Gold. The device will have two processor variants, one with the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor and the other with the brand’s own Exynos 1330 processor. In the Indian market, users can expect the Dimensity 6300 variant. Other revealed key specs include a 6.7″ Infinity U-display with FHD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and 800 nits brightness, a USB type-C port, and an IP54-rated body. The brand’s usual 25W fast charge support is also an expected spec. Storage variants with 4GB, 6GB & 8GB RAM options and 128GB & 256GB internal storage options are also among the noted specs.
