Upcoming OnePlus, Oppo and Realme flagship devices tipped to launch with ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner

The in-display fingerprint scanner has become the most common method for biometric authentication in Android phones. Earlier These scanners let the users unlock their devices without using the physical buttons while nowadays users can even make online payments using this method without the hustle of typing a password again and again. There are two types of in-display fingerprint scanners used in smartphones- Optical and Ultrasonic.

Among these, the common one is the Optical scanner that captures the image of the fingerprint by illuminating it through LED lights. Whereas the Ultrasonic scanner uses high-frequency sound waves to create a 3D image of the user’s fingerprint. Also, the ultrasonic scanner is said to be faster and more reliable than the latter. Most of the smartphone brands have been using Optical in-display fingerprint scanners in their devices but this might be changed now.

As per tipster Digital Chat Station, OnePlus, Oppo, and Realme will be launching their upcoming flagship devices with ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanners. The major advantage of using an Ultrasonic scanner over an Optical scanner is that the users can use the scanner with wet or oily fingertips which is not possible in the case of Optical scanners.

Few brands use the ultrasonic scanner among which one is Samsung which uses the ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner in its flagship devices. Well, it will be great to witness this latest scanner in the upcoming flagship devices of other brands too. In the coming days, other smartphone brands might also come up with devices that feature an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.
