Vivo Y39 5G with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, 6500mAh battery, and AI features like Circle to search and Live text launched in India
Vivo has now announced its next Y series smartphone for the Indian market, called the vivo Y39 5G. Interestingly, the device was already launched in the Malaysian market back in February this year, and yes—it carries the same specifications as the Malaysian variant.
However, when it comes to competition, POCO has already launched the POCO M7 5G, which also features the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset. It was introduced at a much lower starting price of ₹10,999 for the 8GB RAM variant. In contrast, vivo is launching the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant at ₹16,999, with an additional ₹1,500 cashback offer.
That said, the pricing still feels a bit high to me.
Vivo Y39 5G specs and Features
It features a 6.68-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1000 nits peak brightness, and TÜV Rheinland Eye Protection. Under the hood, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 4nm processor. It offers up to 8GB of RAM, supports an additional 8GB of extended RAM(Virtual RAM), and provides up to 256GB of internal storage.
For photography, vivo equips the Y39 5G with a Sony 50MP AI rear camera, a 2MP bokeh lens, and an 8MP front camera. The camera system includes features like Dual View Video, AI Night Mode, AI Photo Enhance, and AI Erase. vivo fits the device with the segment’s largest 6,500mAh battery, supported by BlueVolt technology, 44W FlashCharge, and reverse charging via USB-C.
Running on Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15, the Y39 5G introduces smart AI features such as Circle to Search, AI Screen Translation, Live Text, AI SuperLink, and the Gemini Assistant. vivo builds the phone for durability with Military-Grade certification, an IP64 rating, SCHOTT Xensation® α glass, and a shock-absorbing wave crest-textured case. The phone also delivers enhanced audio through dual stereo speakers with 400% volume amplification and maintains smooth performance with a large internal cooling area. It comes in two colour options—Lotus Purple and Ocean Blue.
vivo reinforces its commitment to the “Make in India” initiative by manufacturing the Y39 5G at its Greater Noida facility, where around 8,000 skilled professionals assemble all vivo smartphones sold in India.

The vivo Y39 5G is available in two storage variants:

- 8GB + 256GB at INR 18,999
