Xiaomi announced the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro flagship phones in December 2022. Some Xiaomi fans in China believe that the company will launch the Xiaomi 13S series with upgraded specifications later this year. Today, Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun took to Weibo to say the company has no plans to release the Xiaomi 13S series this year.
To recall, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro in December 2021, and these were followed up by the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro in July 2022. The 12S lineup came with some upgraded features as compared to the Xiaomi 12 duo. Hence, some Xiaomi fans in China believe that the Xiaomi 13S series will arrive by mid-2023.
However, it is now clear that Xiaomi is currently focused on the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro in the home market and has no plans to release the Xiaomi 13S lineup. As per reports, the next major phone from the brand will be the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is likely to debut in the second quarter of this year. The detailed specifications of the phone are yet to appear, but it is said to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is also expected to feature the 1-inch Sony IMX989 50-megapixel primary camera, which was made available on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and Xiaomi 13 Pro.
