Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro smartphone confirmed to receive up to 4 years of OS upgrades as well as 5 years of security patches

Xiaomi’s upcoming 13T series is set to launch on 26 September during a launch event in Berlin, Germany. This series comprises the Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro smartphones that the company recently confirmed are “co-engineered with Leica”. Recently a tipster revealed that the Xiaomi 13T will be launched in 2 versions of which one will come with Leica branding and the other without it.

Ahead of the launch of this much-awaited series, the company has confirmed another thing about this series. Recently Daniel Desjarlais the communications director at Xiaomi confirmed in an X post that Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13 T Pro will “include 4 generations of Android OS upgrades, as well as 5 years of security patches”. The phones of these series along with other phones that are eligible will soon receive the Android 14 OS update by the end of this year.

This is exciting news for all those who are looking for a smartphone that boasts impressive features and comes with such commitment from the company. We have seen a similar commitment of four OS upgrades and five years of security updates for flagship phones of Samsung that started with Galaxy S21 and are now being offered with Galaxy S23, A73, and other flagship devices. Brands like OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Oppo also offer flagship phones that come with similar commitments.

Expected specs of Xiaomi 13T

The Xiaomi 13T smartphone is revealed to be powered by a Dimensity 8200 ultra chipset from MediaTek and runs MIUI 14 custom UI based on Android 13 OS. As per the recent review video that leaked key specs, this smartphone will come with a 6.67 inch 1.5K AMOLED display that sports a 144 Hz refresh rate.

It will come with a triple camera setup on the rear side featuring a 50 MP Sony IMX707 (OIS) + 8MP + 2MP camera. For selfies, it will come with a 20 MP camera. It will be backed by a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 67 W charging.

It will come in an IP68-rated body, dual stereo speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a heart rate sensor.

As far as its price and availability is concerned the company has yet not made any announcement regarding it.
