Newest Snapdragon Wear chip from Qualcomm is unveiled

For a while, Qualcomm hasn’t introduced a new wearables processor. It appears that Qualcomm is now prepared to introduce a new chip after a significant period of time has gone since the Snapdragon Wear 4100.

The company tweeted a brief video with the following caption: “The clock is ticking on something big.” In addition to a chip-dying, smartwatch, the video also features the tagline “wear what matters”. This perfectly completes the Snapdragon Wear concept.

For quite some time, people have been speculating about what the upcoming Snapdragon Wear processor would be like. While we are not entirely certain of the name, it is possible that the Snapdragon Wear 5100 and the Snapdragon Wear 5100 Plus will be released. The potential use of Samsung’s 4nm manufacturing process would make these new processors more productive than the Snapdragon Wear 4100 chips, which are based on a 12nm technology.

According to Android Police, Qualcomm may continue to use ARM Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.7GHz, as it did on the Snapdragon Wear 4100, and moving to the new node could “extend all-important battery life on future wearables.”

Although Qualcomm hasn’t released any additional information about this chip, in concept one can anticipate improved performance, an improved GPU, support for quicker RAM and flash storage, as well as an increase in battery life because of the QCC5100 coprocessor. Additionally, this coprocessor will control notification delivery, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Bluetooth synchronisation.

Since Qualcomm has already hinted about the chip, we anticipate a declaration soon.
