Huawei Launches Watch D2 with Health Monitoring Features

Huawei has introduced its latest smartwatch, the Watch D2, at a global event showcasing new wearables and tablets. The Watch D2 is the successor to the Watch D and focuses on health monitoring technology, particularly blood pressure measurement.

Blood Pressure Monitoring

The Watch D2 features a blood pressure monitoring system that uses a built-in micropump and an inflatable wrist strap, similar to traditional blood pressure cuffs. Huawei states this method aims to provide more accurate readings compared to watches that use optical sensors.

The device introduces Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM), which allows for 24/7 blood pressure tracking. It can take readings at set intervals throughout the day and night in various body positions, including during sleep.

Health Features

The Watch D2 includes several health monitoring features:

– Beat-by-Beat ECG Analysis
– SpO2 monitoring
– Heart Rate tracking
– Stress Level monitoring
– Skin Temperature monitoring

These features are powered by Huawei’s TruSense system. The watch offers a “Health Overview” report that measures nine body indicators, including vascular elasticity and respiratory health. This is the first Huawei smartwatch to include blood pressure analysis in this report.

Design and Specifications

The Watch D2 has a 1.82-inch AMOLED display with a 2.5D floating design. It’s available in Black and Gold colors, with options for a fluoroelastomer strap or a cream leather strap. The device includes GPS functionality for route tracking.

Huawei reports that the blood pressure monitoring feature has received approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in China and the Medical Device Regulation (MDR) in Europe.
