Samsung announces Galaxy Watch FE with 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display, Exynos W920, and more
Samsung was expected to announce the Galaxy Watch FE during its rumoured upcoming Unpacked Summer Event 2024. However, Samsung has surprised everyone by announcing this budget smartwatch ahead of the event.
Samsung Galaxy Watch FE Pricing and Availability
Samsung has revealed that the Bluetooth version of this smartwatch will be available on June 24th in the US at a price of $199. Additionally, an LTE version will be released in October this year at $249.99. The smartwatch will be offered in four colour options: Black, Pink Gold, and Silver. I didn’t find anything about its availability in other markets, like India.
Samsung Galaxy Watch FE specs
It is surprising that Samsung decided to announce it early, likely due to the frequent leaks. Another surprise is the spec sheet of this new/old smartwatch, which is nearly identical to the Galaxy Watch 4 with minor differences. Like the Galaxy Watch 4, it features a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display with an aluminium case but different dimensions of 39.3 x 40.4 x 9.8mm. The weight has slightly increased to 26.6 grams. Unlike the Galaxy Watch 4, you won’t get the 44mm size as it only comes in 40mm. It uses the same Exynos W920 Dual Core 1.18GHz processor and is equipped with 1.5GB of memory and 16GB of storage. It runs on WearOS powered by the Samsung One UI 5.0 Watch.
In terms of connectivity, it offers LTE, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n 2.4+5GHz, NFC, and GPS/Glonass/Beidou/Galileo. This budget smartwatch comes with IP68 water and dust resistance, a 5ATM rating for diving, and MIL-STD-810G durability.
It is compatible with Android 11.0 or greater and with more than 1.5GB of memory
