According to a recent claim, the third generation Apple iPhone SE will be based on the iPhone XR. This also suggests that the iPhone SE 3 could be the first iPhone to use FaceID instead of TouchID in a bezel-less, notch-bearing design.
Apple’s iPhone SE series has a history of using prior iPhone designs to create fresh phones with modern processors. The body of the iPhone SE second generation was based on the iPhone 8, which was also the last non-SE iPhone to feature the big-bezel, TouchID-style design.
The iPhone XR was more inexpensive than the other iPhones that were released at the same time, and it nevertheless had a modern look that devices like the iPhone SE second generation lack.
The allegation makes sense because the iPhone SE series is one of the only Apple models that still use TouchID, and a rumor from earlier this year suggested that Apple is intending to switch all of its devices, including MacBooks, to FaceID.

As we get closer to spring 2022, when the phone is anticipated to ship, we should see more leaks or official details of the phone.
