Use of only Snapdragon chipset for Galaxy S23 Series – Confirmed by Qualcomm!
With rumours going all about the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series phones in the first week of February of 2023, new speculations come about every day. According to the latest rumours, the Galaxy S23 Series were to consist of the Snapdragon chipset instead of the Exynos ones.
The rumour, however, got confirmed by Qualcomm itself in the recent Q4 earning call. Qualcomm CFO Akash Palkhiwala confirmed expectations for a strong second half of the March quarter (Q1a) 2023. Notice how the dates coincide with the first months of sales for the Galaxy S23 series phones.
“So from a March quarter perspective, you’re right, the benefit from the Samsung launch for the new phone would be in the in kind of the second half of the March quarter. So it comes in towards the end of the quarter, but that will be an advantage, whereas our share from 75% in G S22 goes up to global share in G S23,” said Akash Palkhiwala (Qualcomm CFO), confirming the rumours, as stated in the transcript of the Q4 conference earnings call.
There has also been confirmation that Qualcomm has moved from a 75% share (of chipsets) in the Galaxy S22 series to a global share. This clearly means Qualcomm chipsets for all models of the S23 series.
“In handsets, we entered into a new multiyear agreement with Samsung, expanding the use of Snapdragon platforms for future premium Samsung Galaxy products globally,” said, Cristiano Renno Amon (Qualcomm CEO), in the transcript of the earnings call.
There are reports from last month that still defend that Exynos-powered Galaxy S23 series has not been ruled out despite poor performance.
