A hacker with the username “Teapotuberhacker” has claimed to have leaked the videos of not yet released game, GTA 6
It was reported that Rockstar Games GTA had been hacked and there had been some video leaks of the game. An official statement from the Rockstar Games had not been issued until later today. They said that they are extremely disappointed to have any details of their next game get leaked in this way.
Rockstar Games has allegedly been hacked, according to someone claiming to be the hacker that attacked Uber last week. Videos from Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 that have leaked and been posted online show that the game is still in production.
The hacker identified as “teapotuberhacker” claims to have acquired access to both the Slack and Confluence wiki systems used by Rockstar Games.
The threat actor claims to be the same “Tea Pot” hacker who broke into Uber and claims to have accessed the source code for GTA 5 and GTA 6, in addition to other assets. A file with more than 90 videos was also provided as support for this.
These videos, which contain Vice City scenes and conversations with non-player characters, appear to have been “produced by devs debugging various game elements,” according to Bleeping Computer (NPCs).
The videos were later uploaded to YouTube, and despite Rockstar Games’ best efforts to have them taken down, many of them are still accessible today.
According to the Bleeping Computer story, the threat actor’s requests for money in exchange for withholding the GTA 6 game’s source code appear to be motivated by extortion.
