A smaller-scale Assassin’s Creed game starring Valhalla’s Basim will be released in 2022 or 2023, according to reports

According to many fresh reports, a new Assassin’s Creed game focusing on stealth will be released this year or next, featuring the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla character Basim.

Bloomberg was the first to report on the rumoured existence of this game, codenamed Rift, citing development sources as its source. At least portion of the game will be set in Baghdad, according to reports. According to Eurogamer’s sources, this is a real project.

According to Bloomberg, Ubisoft originally planned for this purported project to be a Valhalla expansion. According to the report, it is now being prepped for distribution as a standalone game.

According to the source, Rift, or whatever the game’s final name is if it is truly real, will not have the franchise’s signature massive open environments. Instead, it will be more focused on stealth gaming and have a limited scale, according to the source.

This new project, if it turns out to be real, is distinct from Ubisoft’s grandiose new project, Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which is confirmed to be in development but lacks clear details.

According to a spokeswoman for Ubisoft, the firm does not comment on rumours or speculation. The following is a statement from a Ubisoft spokesman given to GameSpot:

“Ubisoft has one of the best in-house creative teams in the industry, and they’re working hard to create fantastic experiences for our users. We have a strong and exciting pipeline of products in the works, including both known brands with fresh storey twists and features and brand new IPs that will continue to revolutionise the video gaming market. Rumors and speculation do a disservice to our development teams and community, so we don’t comment or engage in them.”
