Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed to February 14, 2025; Preorders Will Be Refunded

Ubisoft has announced a significant delay for their highly anticipated title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The game, originally scheduled for release on 12th November 2024, will now launch on 14th February 2025.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Marc-Alexis Côté, speaking on behalf of the development team, explained that the postponement is necessary to “polish and refine the experience” and further develop key features. The team acknowledges that this news may disappoint fans, particularly those eager to explore the game’s Feudal Japan setting, a first for the series.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is described as a “dream project” for the developers, promising an immersive world with enhanced parkour and stealth mechanics, developed with community feedback in mind. The game will feature two unique protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke, offering players a rich and diverse gameplay experience.

To compensate for the delay, Ubisoft has announced that all current preorders will be refunded. Additionally, those who preorder the game in the future will receive the first expansion pack free of charge.

The developers have confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on a wide range of platforms, including a simultaneous launch on Steam, addressing previous concerns about platform availability.

Despite the setback, the team remains enthusiastic about the project, expressing their anticipation for players to embark on this new adventure in the Assassin’s Creed universe.

This delay pushes the release back by approximately three months, giving the development team additional time to ensure the game meets the high standards expected by the Assassin’s Creed community.
