FAU-G or PUBG: Who will lead the Indian gaming industry?

On the occasion of Dusshera, nCORE Games had tweeted a short teaser of their upcoming battle royale game, FAU-G along with a statement that the game would launch in November 2020. Its already the end of November and gamers in India are waiting patiently for the game to launch. Speculations were around that the game would be releasing around the time of Diwali, but it did not arrive.

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar announced the launch of FAU-G, a battle royale game by nCORE Games, in Sepember. Tweeting about it he said that the players would get to learn about the sacrifices of our soldiers’ and that 20% of the net revenue generated by this game will be donated to ‘Bharat Ke Veer’ trust.

PUBG Corporation has announced the relaunch of the game under an Indian company as PUBG Mobile India Ltd. Gamers and other loves of this iconic game are especially happy with this news. The hype around the relaunch of the game has been massive and therefore it has unconsciously impacted FAU-G which was labelled as an alternative of PUBG. It seems as though the game has been pushed to the background due to the build-up around PUBG Mobile India.

What is FAU-G?

FAU-G means Fearless And United-Guards. It is an online multiplayer action game. The game was developed by nCORE Games, a Bengaluru based mobile games and interactive entertainment company.

Reports suggest that the first stage of the game will be shaped around the tense situation in Galwan Valley, Ladakh. Also reports state that multi-player options would not be available in the first update. FAU-G is supposed to go head-to-head with PUBG Mobile India to capture the Indian market.

There was a lot of build-up around the game before the relaunch of PUBG since the unban of PUBG was unsure. But since then the hype has reduced. Even though the launch of FAU-G might not be comparable with that of PUBG Mobile India, but there is still some build-up around the game. As per reports, The pre-registration page has crossed the 60000 mark and there are already 134k+ pre-registrations for the game. But, since there is no confirmed statement yet, the authenticity of this is doubtful.

Recently, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs registered PUBG India as a company. The ownership details and address of the company can be found on the Ministry’s website. But currently for any person or business to operate legitimately in India, they require a PAN or a GST Number. As of now, PUBG Mobile India does not have either of this and they cannot start operation without them.

In terms of data security, PUBG Mobile India is one step ahead. Microsoft Azure, a cloud computing service created by Microsoft has tied-up with PUBG Mobile India for data security. Microsoft Azure manages the computing and storage of resources which helps to keep the data, such as servers and user information, secure on Microsoft’s data centres.

For PUBG Mobile India to make its grand comeback, security and safe storage of user information are of primary concern. The major reason for PUBG ban in India was due to alleged security breach of user data.

Up until now, there is no update on when both the battle royal games will be launched.

FAU-G or PUBG… In the end, everything would rely on user experience and gameplay. Games anticipatedly waiting would not settle for any less of an experience. and with the bar PUBG has already set, FAU-G would have to up the game to be on par with its relaunch.
