Google Stadia shutting it’s operations on January 19, 2023
It’s time to say goodbye to Stadia. Indeed a shocking news for all the gamers. This news have left many gamers heartbroken to see Stadia go.
Stadia debuted through a closed beta in October and was publically launched in November 2019 and was claimed as “ Netflix for games” , allowing players to stream games online without a PC or console.
The service will remain live for users until January 18, 2023. Google is also refunding all Stadia hardware purchased through Google store as well as all the games and add-on content purchased from Stadia store. As of reports the refunds have begun and the company expects to process the majority of refunds by 18 January.
Reason for shutting Stadia
According to Google they were shutting Stadia last year in September as it “hadn’t gained the traction with users” as the company initially expected. But the gamers have reacted sadly to the news pointing out the games developed exclusively to be played on Stadia could be gone forever if the service closes.
In spite of the fact that many users are about to lose access to all of their titles and save on Stadia , many publishers have shared ways to keep streaming their games on other platforms , according to The Verge.
Phil Harrison , Vice President and General Manager at Stadia , said in a blog post that the underlying technology platform that powers Stadia will be used to bolster Google services like , YouTube , Google Play and Augmented Reality.
Marking the closure of Stadia Google released one final Stadia game , Worm Game for all the Stadia gamers.
You might have seen one last game arrive on Stadia today. It's a humble 🧡 thanks 💜 for playing from our team.
