PlayStation launches new PS5 software beta update for PS5 DualSense Controller, check newly added features

In recent developments, PlayStation launched a new PS5 system software beta update on Tuesday, 6 February 2024. The new PS5 system software beta update is currently available only for limited invited participants in selected countries. PlayStation has sent invitation emails to selected participants.

PlayStation also shared that the new PS5 system software beta update will be released globally in the upcoming months.

Here are some of the latest features that are added to the new update.

DualSense wireless controller built-in mic and speaker receive audio enhancements:

The device software of the DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers has been updated with enhanced sound features. This includes enhancements in the controller speakers like higher volume sound and more clarity in voice chats. Improved noise cancellation with the courtesy of a new AI machine learning model has also been incorporated. Background noise from button presses and game audio has been taken care of in the new update.

You can install the system software beta and update the controller device software to experience enhanced clarity in voice chat audios through the controller mic.

Share Screen Interactions:

You can use pointers and emoji reactions to interact with the host’s gameplay with the new beta update. You can also move a pointer around, send a ping, draw lines on the shared screen to highlight certain objects, or even send emoji reactions to a host’s screen. This feature though available by default, can be turned off by the host if needed. However, the feature works only when both the host and the viewer are participating in the beta.
