PlayStation VR2 Price Drops to $399.99, Now Matches Horizon Bundle Cost

Sony has announced a significant price reduction for its PlayStation VR2 headset, lowering the recommended retail price to $399.99 (€449.99 / £399.99 / ¥66,980) including tax, starting in March. This represents a substantial discount from the original $549 price point when the system launched in February 2023. The price cut affects both the standalone PS VR2 system and the Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle, which will now cost the same.
“For those of you who have been waiting for the opportunity to jump into PlayStation VR2 and experience what this generation’s innovative virtual reality system has to offer, we are happy to share some great news!” Sony stated in its announcement.
The company noted that the exact timing of the price change may vary by region, suggesting customers check with local retailers for specific availability details.
The price reduction comes as Sony highlights several recent and upcoming VR titles for the platform. Recent releases like Alien: Rogue Incursion, Skydance’s Behemoth, and Metro Awakening VR have expanded the PS VR2 library, while upcoming games including Aces of Thunder, Dreams of Another, Hitman World of Assassination, and The Midnight Walk are set to launch soon.
Sony also emphasized the value of its PC adapter, which allows PS VR2 owners to access thousands of virtual reality games through Steam.
A recent system update has introduced low-latency hand tracking functionality to the PS VR2, enabling developers to create games that track players’ hand positions and movements using the headset’s embedded cameras. This feature is already supported in titles like Waltz of the Wizard, providing more intuitive control options.
