Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 Processor Announced, Will Soon Power Mid Range Phones With On Device AI Capabilities

Qualcomm has announced its new Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor that will power mid-range smartphones and will enable on-device AI processing in them. It uses the updated kryo CPU that is promised to deliver more speed than its predecessor. Its octa-core setup comprises a 2.5GHz prime core, three 2.4GHz performance cores, and four 1.8GHz efficiency cores.

The company says that together it improves the performance by 20% while contributing a 45% boost in power saving. Its Kryo CPU paired with the Adreno GPU is promised to deliver a 40% jump in performance compared to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor. Its AI Engine should deliver 30% better AI performance than the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. This new chipset has support for various LLMs (Large Language Models) including Baichuan-7B and Llama 2 at 1B parameters.

It comes with an improved camera system and it features 12-bit triple ISP and 4K sHDR. It supports 200MP snapshots, 64MP single capture, 4K HDR videos, and up to 21MP triple camera modules. The chipset is based on TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process and supports devices with the FHD+ resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate. It comes with the Snapdragon 5G Modem RF system and can reach up to 2.9Gbps peak download speed. Xiaomi always on the go will be the first one to power its device from this chipset and launch in the market. It can launch a smartphone with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor somewhere in September. Samsung can also bring AI features to its A series with this chipset.
