Aerial views are now available on google maps

Google, on Wednesday, announced to introduce its “photorealistic aerial views” to almost 100 different landmarks in google maps. According to Google, Just like Apple maps’ flyover feature, it gives you an overhead look at landmarks like London, Tokyo, Barcelona, New York and San Francisco.

Google has also shared a GIF for their users to get an idea about the aerial views.

Google maps director of product Amanda Leicht Moore stated in her blog that the “Ariel views” are the first step towards launching the “immersive view”. Indoor views and information like traffic and weather will be included in the immersive view of the map. Later this year, in Los Angeles, London, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo, the immersive view would be rolling out.
Google is also bringing a few other new features to maps. For cyclers, they’ll be able to see additional information like whether the road they chose to travel in is a major or minor road, if the route includes stairs or steep hills and if or not you can hit heavy traffic. And if someone has shared a location with you, you’ll be updated about whether they’ve reached the location or are about to leave.
The new aerial view and location sharing are now available globally on iOs and android. Where, on the other hand, the cycling feature will be updated in the coming weeks.
