Baidu cancelled the livestream product launch of “Ernie” the ChatGPT competitor

Chinese search engine Baidu abruptly canceled the live stream product launch of the “Ernie bot” which is considered as equivalent to ChatGPT. It has been reported that strong demand from 120,000 companies that applied to test the Ernie bot lead to the change in plan and arrange the first of many closed-door meetings.

As soon as this announcement came out of the doors Baidu’s Hong Kong-listed shares fell as much as 4.5% on Monday morning. The company is for sure not going to worry about this fall because something similar took place when Baidu was launched on 16th March. During the launch event, the shares fell up to 10% because of the limited range of functions displayed, and lack of opportunity to interact it looked scripted to the audience but shares rebounded back the next day.

Other than Baidu, Chinese company Alibaba is also working on a chatbot built on top of its M6 foundation. Since the ChatGPT has been launched the world seems to have gone crazy to see such incredible capabilities. Companies all around the world are approaching ChatGPT to provide the next level of experience to customers. Google also launched its AI chatbot Bard and some of the reports suggest that India can also come with something similar in the coming days.
