Google Delists 10 Apps from Play Store Due to Billing Policies
There was a dispute going on between some domestic start-ups and Google over Google’s high service fee of up to 265 on in-app purchases and app downloads from the Play Store. As per Google, ten companies including some well-known ones, have chosen not to pay for the immense value they receive on Google Play by securing interim protections from the court.
Well, Google has now delisted 10 Indian Apps from the Play Store today due to its billing policies. Let’s take a look at the names of these companies-
- 99 Acres
- ALT Balaji
- Bharat Matrimony
- Kuku FM
- Naukri
- Quack-Quack
- com
- Stage
- Truly Madly
- Stage OTT
According to Google, the developers were given three years to prepare, including three weeks after the Supreme Court’s order, and now the company is taking necessary steps to ensure its policies are applied consistently across the ecosystem. This decision was taken by Google as the companies did not pay the service fees and also refused to comply with the updated Payment Policy for the Google Play Store.
Founder & CEO of Shaadi.com Anupam Mittal has also expressed his displeasure on this matter via the X platform.
Today is a dark day for India Internet. Google has delisted major apps from its app store even though legal hearings are underway @CCI_India & @indSupremeCourt Their false narratives & audacity show they have little regard for 🇮🇳 Make no mistake – this is the new Digital East…
