Google Rolling Out Identity Check Feature; Will Be Available Through A Beta Version Of Google Play Services
Google was reported to be testing a new feature dubbed Identity Check. This feature was said to add a layer of security when it comes to password autofill outside trusted locations. Two images have now surfaced online which reveal that this feature is now rolling out.
The above image reveals that when this feature is enabled biometric authentication will be required for sensitive actions like-
- Accessing saved passkeys and app passwords
- Changing the PIN, pattern, or password and turning off Find My Device
This feature is said to add extra security to accounts as it makes it harder for someone to take over your Accounts signed in on this device. Also if a user wants to turn off this feature, it will require either the user’s biometrics or their Google Account and can only be done when your device has internet access.
This feature is said to work on Android 15 and later and is available through a beta version of Google Play Services. Identity Check Feature adds an extra layer of security so that even if anybody other than you knows your lock screen PIN, pattern, or password they still can’t open your Google accounts.
