Google’s “AI Snapshot”, Get More From a Single Search
Google’s all-new AI-powered Search will now give you more than what you expected in a single search. The AI Snapshot will be giving its users a quick sense or idea of what they had searched for.
Here’s more about it.
Google AI Snapshot
Google’s all-new AI integrated Search will be all that you will need to get a more clear and quick idea for your searches. Recently Google’s VP of Search, Liz Reid also demonstrated how its AI-powered Search will do magic to bring out more in a single search.
With our new generative AI experience in Search, you’ll get even more from a single search. You’ll be able to quickly make sense of information with an AI-powered snapshot, pointers to explore more and natural ways to ask. #GoogleIO pic.twitter.com/jgzz97DzEv

As per what was demonstrated by Liz, unlike AI-powered chatbots like ChatGPT or Google’s own Bard, which they are currently working on with limited public access, Google’s AI-powered Search will work in a different way.
Google Search will be retaining its same interface and on searching for a result, users will be receiving the normal search results first, above which the AI-generated results which the company calls “AI Snapshot” gets displayed within a few seconds. As the name indicates, the AI Snapshot will give its users an entire summary of what has been searched with its sources given at the right. On clicking the “Bear-Claw” icon given at the screen’s top right corner, it will separate the points and will bring the sources at the bottom of each sentence, which can be followed up by the users.
Apart from this, Google’s AI-powered Search will also provide its users with product recommendations as well, according to the requirements mentioned in their search. It should also be noted, that AI Snapshot won’t display results for sensitive subjects like health or finance and is programmed in such a way.
The all-new AI-generated Search is powered by Google’s advanced LLM(Large Language Model) along with PaLM 2, a general-purpose model, and the Multitask Unified Model(MUM), which enables Google to identify different types of media files. Google users will be able to access the AI Snapshot in Search by enabling the feature called Search Generative Experience(SGE), which is a part of Search Labs.
