Last year, Google officially launched its AI Gemini models- Gemini Ultra, Gemini Pro, and Gemini Nano. Among these Gemini Nano was said to be the most efficient model for on-device tasks. Gemini Nano was already made available on the Google Pixel 8 Pro smartphone and was expected to be made available for other Pixel devices too.

Well, Google is now rolling out the June 2024 Feature Drop to a few Pixel devices. As part of this Feature Drop, Gemini Nano is now expanded to Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a smartphones as a developer option. According to the company’s blog post, Gemini Nano will bring the Recorder summaries feature to both smartphones.

The Recorder app will be able to detect and include the names of speakers so conversational transcripts are improved. With the ability to export transcripts into text files or Google Docs keeping track of things like interviews and class lectures is made easy.

Other than this, Google has rolled out various new features for Pixel devices. Like Pixel 8, Pixel 8a and Pixel 8 Pro can now display content on a larger screen via USB-C, Find My Device can now locate your phone even when it is off or the battery is dead, Pixel camera can now automatically identify best moment from your photo in HDR+ (Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 6 and newer phone), Pixel Fold, Pixel 6 and newer phone users can now do a reverse phone number search directly from call log. Meanwhile, Pixel Fold, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7 Pro, and 8 Pro users can now manually pick which camera lens they want to use while taking photos.
