IIT Roorkee Professor Kamal Jain invents software that can detect coronavirus within 5 seconds

Kamal Jain the professor of the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Roorkee declares that he has developed software through which Coronavirus can be detected within a record time of 5 seconds. The software uses X-Ray as a way to scan the doubtful patient. The professor has taken over 40 days to make the software and has also filed a patent for it. He has also talked to the Indian Council of Medical Research, ICMR for the review of the same.

“I first made an artificial intelligence-based database after observing more than 60,000 X-ray scans, including those of COVID-19, pneumonia, and tuberculosis patients to differentiate among the kind of chest congestion suffered in the three diseases. I also observed the chest x-ray database of the United States’ NIH Clinical Center,” Jain informed.

He also mentioned, “Using the software developed by me, the doctors can simply upload pictures of an individual’s X-ray. The software will not only classify whether the patient has any sign of pneumonia, it will be able to tell whether it is due to COVID-19 or other bacteria and also measure the severity of the infection.” Also Read: IIT Roorkee professor Kamal Jain develops a portable screening booth for sample collection of COVID suspects.
