Google has announced the addition of India’s first online document storage service called DigiLocker to the Android Files app, allowing its users to view authenticated government-issued papers, securely and privately from an app.

Google claims that it is now making it easier for individuals to offer legitimate digital documents easy access directly from the Files by Google app on Android.

With Digilocker-verified documents, the documents will directly be added to the files by Google for its android users. This ensures that consumers can swiftly and safely manage their most-used documents on their smartphones for simple and private access on the go and in their phones.

With quick access to personal documents DigiLocker also facilitates benefits like government benefits such as financial inclusion, education, and health initiatives by providing quick access to legitimate digital documents. 

Google announced its agreement with the Indian government to offer up the DigiLocker integration within the Files app at the annual Google for India conference on Monday.  

The papers saved in Google Files will be stored on the smartphone in an isolated environment and will be available only with a unique lock screen authentication from the owner.
