Microsoft is still indulged in making 3D emojis for Windows 11 after first mocking it last year and then only providing 2D versions in Windows 11. Nando Costa, a reverend designer at Microsoft, announced that the company is still trying to make the emojis look more 3D.
Answering a tweet from someone asking for 3D emoji, Costa said, “We’re working on that.”
While Microsoft revealed the 3D emojis and assured to make them part of Windows 11, the company surprisingly regressed to a 2D flat emoji design without any explanation. Maybe because the flatter design operates better across multiple applications. The other possibility of not providing 3D emojis is that there may be shortcomings in Windows that Microsoft is facing and needs to repair first.
Costa’s blog explained how the 3D emojis will reflect human qualities like wrinkles and hairstyles. Microsoft uses tools like Adobe Illustrator, Maxon’s Cinema 4D, Figma, Font Lab, and other applications to create its 3D emojis.
