Namma Yatri: An app by Auto Union of Bangalore

The anger of Auto Union because of ride-hauling and unfair work practices motivated them to launch their own app “The Namma Yatri”. AUDR plans to release this app on 1st November.

The motive of this application is to overtake aggregators like Ola and Uber. The app is going to launch on 1st November by the Auto Rickshaw Drivers Union (ARDU).

Cab Drivers, displeased with the high fuel prices, the commission of the aggregator is said to be as high as 30%. EMI on their vehicles, harsh working conditions, and targets that are impossible to achieve.

According to the president of the AUDR D. Rudramurthy, the fair on the Namma Yatri app will be according to the Government taxes.
He spoke to the publication that “We will collect an additional 10 as pick-up charges. We also plan to launch a flat 40 fare in a 2 km radius between Metro stations and residences or offices”.

Another union also thought about the same idea and created a similar app under the name “ROOK” in partnership with a Bengaluru-based mobility firm on Gandhi Jayanti. But due to some reasons, the launch has been postponed.

Drivers mentioned their anger about losing customers because of highly-priced ride-hauling apps. These applications charge Rs 100 for the first two kilometers, whereas autorickshaw has a minimum charge of Rs 30.
