NASA Unveils ‘Spot the Station’ App for Easy International Space Station Spotting and Interactive AR Experience!

This is a time when space scientists and space agencies across the globe are getting closer and closer to various celestial bodies with every new day. NASA, the US space agency, is one of the most significant contributors to these movements and development.

In the latest developments, NASA is now presenting a new mobile phone app, which users can use to spot the International Space Station.  This app is labeled as ‘Spot the Station’. The app is now available for download on both iOS and Android mobile phones.

NASA took to social media on X today, 3 November 2023, and updated about the same.

What the app will present and contain: Apart from providing an accessible way to spot the station, you will also have access to news and resources about the station’s microgravity laboratory. The app makes use of an augmented reality interface. With this, locating the station becomes easier and you will be able to capture and share pictures and videos of your sightings in real-time.

The augmented reality interface has a built-in compass, which will help you spot the station irrespective of which part of the globe it is at that point of time.

The app also provides the option of signing up for mobile notifications. On doing so, you will be notified about upcoming viewing opportunities according to where your location is. The app will notify you when the orbiting lab is passing over your town.
