National Meet on Disaster Risk Management marks the release of Landslide Atlas of India and NDEM Lite Mobile App
The truth that says that development is necessary cannot be argued but at the cost of human lives needs to be questioned. Humans are building huge structures and projects that may not look problematic initially but can be a reason for major havoc later.
ISRO recently shared a tweet in which it wrote “At the National Meet on Disaster Risk Management- Trends and Technologies. Shri S Somnath, Chairman, ISRO released The Landslide Atlas of India. Shri Kamal Kishore released the NDEM Lite mobile app”.
The National Meet on Disaster Risk Management took place on 27th Feb 2023 and during this event, an atlas and app were launched. In the Landslide Atlas of India, they have added details of landslides present in Landslide provinces of India. It also contains a landslide inventory database consisting of nearly 80,000 landslides in India.

These landslides have been mapped by NRSC/ISRO under its DMS program during the 1998-2022 period. You will find out three different types of landslide inventory that include seasonal, event-based, and route-wise for the 1998-2022 period.
If we talk about the application NDEM Lite, has a disaster dashboard that gives you access to data related to floods, forest fires, lightning, cloud burst, etc. You can easily access near real-time flood information that will enable you to be aware or make aware of your loved ones living in flood-prone areas. You can also get current news related to disasters in the disaster-specific section below the Disaster Dashboard. This is a beta release and the final release is under development.
