Now you can find emails faster with Gmail’s AI search

Google has upgraded Gmail’s search feature with AI to help users find emails faster. The new “most relevant” search results feature prioritises emails based on more than just recency. Previously, Gmail showed search results in chronological order, making it hard to find important messages. Now, Gmail ranks search results based on how recent the email is, how often the email is clicked, and frequent contacts. This AI-driven update ensures that important emails appear at the top, reducing the time spent searching.
Last week, Google introduced another useful update. Users can now add events directly to their calendar from an email, avoiding the need to manually enter details. When Gmail detects event-related content, an “Add to Calendar” button appears. Clicking it opens a side panel to confirm and save the event. Currently, this feature is available in English and on the web, with a full rollout expected by mid-April 2025. It is available for Google Workspace Business and Enterprise customers, as well as users with Gemini Education, Google One AI Premium, and Gemini Business/Enterprise add-ons.
The “most relevant” search results feature is rolling out globally for personal Google accounts on both the web and Gmail mobile apps (Android and iOS). Users can switch between “most relevant” and “most recent” search views. Currently, the update is for personal accounts, but Google plans to expand it to business and enterprise accounts soon. With these improvements, Gmail makes searching for emails easier and event management more seamless, helping users stay organised and productive.
