Oppo brought a smile to its user’s face by bringing background stream functions with the ColorOS 12. This function allowed users to continue playing music and video from any supported app in the background. Same feature access costs at least ₹129 a month through YouTube Premium which allows users to play videos in the background thus allowing users to do their task at the same time saving more energy than before.
Unfortunately, Oppo has recently made an announcement on its community page about the removal of the Background Stream Function. The statement reads “We are sorry to inform you that we will gradually remove the background stream function in the Smart Sidebar to follow the compliance requirements”.
It is important to know that it will be gradually removed from all Oppo devices and will happen via an OTA update. Users won’t have to do anything. Users are not happy to know this as one of the users named harsha007 wrote in the comments section “Huh noo…It was useful to play background music on YouTube even though we didn’t have premium”.
