Pixel Phones Can Soon Get “Satellite SOS” Feature By Google

Google confirmed about the satellite communication support with Android 14 ever before the launch. Now it seems that users are close to getting access to this new feature. A recent update to the “Adaptive Connective Services” app on Pixel phones shows the addition of the “Satellite SOS” feature that will enable users to establish contact with emergency services through satellite when the cellular network and Wi-Fi network are out of access.

A number of screenshots of this have been shared by Google News on Telegram. As per the screenshot the Satellite SOS can be found under Safety and Emergency in Settings. The description under the Satellite SOS reads how it works. As per the screenshot, the Satellite SOS option will appear when you don’t have a network. And it will also let you “Try a demo” and “Try real mode”.

It also mentions the Garmin Search and Rescue insurance that highlights its presence in over 150 countries. There is a clear mention of “With your Pixel” that suggests it can be confined to Pixel phones at least initially. The feature is available to both iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series users and will be a great addition for Android users.
