Samsung’s new Maintenance mode will keep the user’s data safe and secure introduced
For Galaxy phones running One UI 5, the tech giant Samsung has introduced a “Maintenance Mode” function. That will protect users’ sensitive data while the phone is being repaired. Using the new Maintenance Mode, users will be able to limit access to their personal information. Such as their photographs, messages, or contacts.
Galaxy consumers are even more comfortable that their privacy can be protected even if they give their phone to someone else.
The Maintenance Mode will enable setting up a different user account when a user takes their device in for repair. Allowing them to use the necessary functionalities without having access to any of their personal information.
After choosing Maintenance Mode under “Battery and device maintenance” in “Settings,” the user only needs to perform a factory reset on their smartphone. All personal data, including photos, documents, and communications, will be blocked after a reboot.
Maintenance Mode launched in China in September 2022 after being successfully tested on the Galaxy S21 series in Korea in July 2022.
The feature will progressively become available to a select few devices running One UI 5. When it is implemented throughout 2023, more Galaxy devices will be added to the list, the report stated.
