The new feature in Facebook Messenger allows users to split bills to more easily share expenses
Meta also announced the addition of four new AR-based Group Effects to Facebook Messenger.
In Facebook Messenger, Facebook, now known as Meta, has included a new Split Payments feature. Users will be able to calculate and split expenses, such as a restaurant bill, with others directly from the Facebook Messenger platform.
On the official Messenger blog, Meta unveiled the new Split Payment option. According to the post, the service is still in development and will be available to users in the United States this week. “We’re starting to test Split Payments, a free and fast way to split the cost of bills and costs,” the post says.
You can then divide the bill evenly or change the amount of each individual’s payment.
Your request will be sent in the group chat thread after you input a personalized message and confirm your Facebook Pay details.
While Meta will begin testing the function in the United States next week, there is no word on whether it will be available globally. Aside from the new bill splitting tool, Facebook Messenger now has four new AR-based Group Effects. King Bach, Emma Chamberlain, Bella Poarch, and Zach King collaborated on the project.
