TikTok VS Youtube: TikTok is experimenting with 3 minute long videos in an attempt to take on YouTube

ByteDance’s TikTok became a vast social media platform on which you could upload a 15-second video showing off your creativity and skills. The app also has various features like transitions and filters to enhance your video. Currently, TikTok only allows creators to upload videos of up to one minute in length. But recent reports suggest that the Chinese short-video making platform will allow its users to upload videos of up to three-minutes long in an attempt to be on par with YouTube.

Social Media consultant Matt Navarra was the first person to spot this update. He also twitted a screenshot of the new update on the app. Reportedly the feature is still in its early access stages.

The essence and charm of TikTok videos lie in its short duration, which attracts users since they don’t have to watch a lengthy video, thus saving time and also getting the entertainment they need. If you want to watch longer videos, YouTube and other platforms are always available.

Verge reports, that the three-minute TikTok videos feel like a miniature replica of YouTube, back in the day when YouTube videos were shorter than 10 minutes.

YouTube has also introduced YouTube Shorts, a short video service that lets the user create and upload videos of 15 second or less on YouTube. Not letting itself remain back in the race, Instagram has also introduced its new feature called Instagram Reels which lets its users create short videos of 30 second or less.
