Ukraine launches website 200rf.com to find captured and killed Russian soldiers in Ukraine

The website 200rf.com is set up by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The domain name refers to the well-known name Gruz-200 (Cargo-200) used by Soviet troops for corpses returned from the war in Afghanistan in the 1980’s.

The English translation of the website description reads: “This site was created by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. On it, you will find information about captured and killed Russian soldiers in Ukraine since the beginning of the occupation. Here we will promptly post photos and videos that we receive from the battlefield. If your relatives or friends are in Ukraine and participate in the war against our people – here you can get information about their fate. Unfortunately, it is difficult to identify a lot of those killed. We deliberately post these photos and videos; you may recognize someone by indirect signs.”

“I know that many Russians are worried about the whereabouts of their children, their sons, their husbands and what happened to them – so we decided to put this online so that each of you could ask your loved one Putin to fight him. Ukraine,” he was quoted as saying in an AFP report.

The plan also appears to be aimed at undermining the morale and support of the Russian war, in which officials and State media have refused to disclose details of wounded Russians and military attacks in Ukrainian cities, including the capital, Kyiv.

In addition to the site, Ukraine has also released the telephone numbers of families, relatives and friends of Russian soldiers captured by Ukrainian soldiers. Anton Herashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s minister of internal affairs, said the telephone number would inform Russian families whether their son, brother, father was still alive, arrested, or injured. Families will then be able to decide when to pick up / transfer the body to their home in the Russian Federation.

The area comes at a time when Moscow has refused to disclose details about the losses suffered by its troops in the attack. On February 27, Ukrainian troops claimed that Russia had lost about 4,300 troops. Russia has not responded to this demand. However, on Sunday, the Russian army admitted that their soldiers had been ‘killed and wounded’ and called Ukrainian soldiers “Nazis”.

“Russian troops are showing courage and bravery while performing military service in the military. Unfortunately, some were killed and wounded among our comrades. ,” TASS news agency quoted Moscow military spokesman Igor Konashenkov as saying.
