Verified Organizations with affiliated accounts a double edged sword against false organisational affiliation and low reach
As soon as Musk overtook Twitter it went under numerous changes and one of them was the introduction of affiliate badges. These badges were introduced to point out the parent company of the user that appears alongside the verified tick. As soon as Twitter rolled out the paid account verification, verified trolls began impersonating celebrities and brands. This became a nightmare for businesses like Eli Lily. A pharmaceutical firm faced millions of dollars of loss from market cap after a fake account falsely claimed that the company was making insulin free.
Thereafter Twitter brought the affiliated badges for brands and organizations to identify the accounts associated with them. It means now users can identify whether a person making any statement on behalf of an organization or brand is fake or not. And it also helps in driving traffic to the parent account by simply tapping on the badge that appears alongside the verification badge.
