WhatsApp Voice Status Feature

Previously, in the first quarter of this year itself, Meta-owned WhatsApp had announced the voice status feature which would enable its users to record and share voice notes as WhatsApp statuses, and now, the video and messaging platform has made the feature live on both Android and iPhone devices.

WhatsApp users starting today can access the voice status feature or share a voice status by visiting the “Status” section and selecting the “Pencil” icon which is at the bottom right corner of the screen. On selecting, a status update page will pop up from where users can record voice notes or messages of upto 30 secs with the “Mic” icon given at the bottom of the screen.

Some reports from the past had already revealed how WhatsApp users on average were sending about 7 billion voice messages daily and it might be after taking this into account, Meta owned WhatsApp decided to introduce the new voice status feature.

The private audio selection feature is also now live on WhatsApp and users will be able to select who can see the voice status and who shouldn’t. The private audio selector can be selected for individual statuses and this is a great relief for its users as previously, the audience who should see the status where selected manually from the app’s “Settings” menu and it went active for all statuses.

Just to add, the link preview, status reactions, and the status profile rings, which were also announced early this year with the WhatsApp voice notes status, have also become live on WhatsApp for quite some time.
