Vijay’s Master Breaks Bahubali 2: The conclusion’s Records
The three-year-long record by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, has been broken by Vijay’s Master. The movie Master surpassed it in terms of theatrical share in the state of Tamil Nadu. The Baahubali sequel had three years back in 2017collected Rs 78 crore in Tamil. Master crossed Bahubali 2’s record within just 19 days of the film’s release as it collected Rs 80 cr in the state. The film was released on 13 January 2021. The movie is about the story of an alcoholic professor, J. D. played by Vijay, who takes a three-month teaching job at a juvenile home controlled by the evil Bhavani played by Sethupathi.
Master was one of the first movies to be released in cinema halls after lockdown’s relaxation in the COVID-19 restrictions. The theatres in Tamil Nadu were functioning with only 50% occupancy due to COVID-19 rules and regulations. The film was available on amazon prime within 16 days of its release. The film within the first five days of its release collected Rs 125 crores.
On the ninth day of the blockbuster movie’s release, Master joined the 200-crore club. Master became Vijay’s fourth film to enter the club after Sarkar, Mersal and Bigil.
The cast includes Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi, Arjun Das, Malavika Mohanan, Andrea Jeremiah and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj.
