Akilesh Yadav tries to be another Kejriwal: tries to woo voters by providing free electricity

During the 24th December campaign rally, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav vowed to provide affordable power to the state’s farmers, domestic users and industries if voted into power in next year’s Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
On 24th December, he tweeted that had the proposed power plants in Etah and other districts been built, the people of Uttar Pradesh would not have been forced to buy electricity at the highest rate in the nation. The statement was made to clearly target the Modi government.
According to the UP Energy Minister Shrikant Sharma, electricity rates were raised by more than 60% during the Samajwadi Party government and there was no increase of rates during the Yogi government.
Now according to PTI, if elected, Akhilesh Yadav (@yadavakhilesh) promises 300 units of free electricity to households as well as free electricity for irrigation.
On this, UP CM Yogi Adityanath replied to Akhilesh Yadav, “If his government never provided electricity, to begin with, how can they provide it for free.”. He went on to ask where the money allocated for electricity and toilets during the government of the Samajwadi Party in the state before 2017 was being channeled.
