Amazon seeks to withdraw suit against Raj Thackrey

The blue-chip company Amazon moved to a civil court on Tuesday seeking to withdraw its suit against the MNS i.e Maharastra Navnirman Seva and its chief Raj Thackeray over the party’s agitation for the use of their local language Marathi. Later Amazon included Marathi among the preferred languages on its app. So, the issue no longer exists.

Amazon’s lawyer did not respond to call or message. The company had moved to the court by being threatened by MNS. They allegedly threatened Amazon to include Marathi as a preferred option among other languages.

“The notice sent to Raj Thackeray by Amazon yesterday is illegal. If one has to do business in Maharashtra they must provide an option in Marathi language and if they don’t do it in future as well… then the way this (Amazon’s warehouse) has been vandalized similarly Maharashtra Navnirman Sena will not let their shops, vehicles operate in Maharashtra,” said MNS worker Amit Jagtap, who was allegedly leading the group that vandalized the godown.

The police filed FIR against 8-10 MNS worker for vandalizing an Amazon warehouse in Pune. Cheif Raj Thackrey was ordered to be present in court on 5th Jan. However, Amazon displayed its craftiness and took a smart move, it withdraw the suit.
