  • Zoom – In the download division, Zoom was the second most installed software. It was ranked first in the Apple Store’s downloads section and seventh in Google Play’s downloads segment. Zoom is the most widely distributed online meeting and virtual learning app, with approximately 94.6 million installations. The USA and India combined for seventeen percent of its downloads.

Due to the lockdowns that have taken place around the globe due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this sudden growth in Zoom makes a lot of sense. Offices and educational facilities have been shut down, and for video conferencing and calling, people have relied heavily on Zoom to continue working and studying from home.

  •  WhatsApp: In cumulative downloads, WhatsApp ranks eighth, with more than 100 billion+ downloads. This is one of the most popular and widely used chat applications; WhatsApp often facilitates correspondence between international telecommunications networks.
  • Facebook: In the entire downloaded list, it is ranked fourth. Facebook is the most used and influential app for social networking in the world. In social and corporate communications, Facebook tech is used almost everywhere.
  • Messenger – In 2020, messenger was the fifth most downloaded app overall, and Aargoya Setu, Google Meet, and Netflix preceded it. On Apple Store downloads, it was seventh.
  • Instagram: Instagram was ranked sixth in all categories, among the most downloaded software. During COVID-19, this social media program was a significant advantage in falling firms.
  • Google Meet: The online meetings and classrooms were accompanied by the fifth-ranked Google Conference.
  • Aarogya Setu: Aarogya Setu is a cross-platform open-source for the handling of CoVID-19 in India. The “Contact tracing, Syndromic mapping, and Self-assessment” interactive service is predominantly a mobile app developed by the National Information Technology Centre (under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology). The app has reached 100 million downloads in 40 days. If you’re a citizen of India, it’s ranked eighth in the order because it’s a necessary app.
  • YouTube: YouTube is a program for video sharing and streaming that can run on smartphones and desktop computers. There are also additional features in the app, such as offline uploading. YouTube is the world’s biggest video host that provides monetization opportunities for copyright owners. 
  • Snapchat: Snapchat is a messaging platform for social networking that can only be used through a mobile app. It allows users to chat and exchange screenshots with other Snapchat users in the form of photos, videos, and emojis.
