Amazon Pharmacy expands across India, offering same-day medicine delivery in 23 cities and coverage across remote areas
Amazon India has launched its pharmacy service across the country. It operates as a marketplace that connects customers with licensed sellers of prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, and healthcare products.
The service now reaches all serviceable PIN codes across India, extending to remote locations including Port Blair, Havelock, Leh, Kanyakumari, and Roing in Arunachal Pradesh.
“At Amazon, we work with licensed sellers to facilitate healthcare access in India by making it more convenient for our customers to shop online. Through Amazon Pharmacy, our sellers leverage nationwide logistics network to offer thousands of prescription medications, OTC drugs, and healthcare essentials right to customers’ doorsteps across the country—even in the remotest areas,” states Harsh Goyal, Director – Pharmacy, Amazon India.
Ordering Process
Customers can access the service through the Amazon app, www.amazon.in, or directly at www.amazon.in/pharmacy. Users search for medicines, add them to their cart, and complete the checkout process. For prescription medications, a valid prescription upload is required before the order is processed by a registered pharmacist.
For customers without immediate access to prescriptions, a consultation service is available through a third-party telemedicine partner. A registered medical practitioner evaluates the request and, if appropriate, issues a prescription for order confirmation.
Customer Experiences “I was not able to get all my prescribed medicines at a single place either offline or online except at Amazon Pharmacy, making it the only reliable source. The convenience of fast delivery and the assurance of receiving an authentic product have made Amazon my go-to choice,” reports Arthi (name changed), a customer.
From Nabagram in the Andamans, Akash (name changed) states, “As someone living in Nabagram (a remote area in Andamans), access to essential medical supplies can be challenging. Their service is a true lifeline for those of us far from the nearest pharmacy or hospital.”
Service Features The service includes delivery options and savings programs. Prime members with Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit cards receive 5% savings. Free delivery applies to orders above ₹149 for Prime members and ₹299 for non-Prime customers.
