First details of Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro come roaring out: 2nd-gen Tensor, new Samsung modem

According to 9to5, Google claims to have a second-generation Tensor chip in the works after digging into the recent Android 13 developer preview and speaking with “trusted” sources. Tensor 2.0, as it is commonly referred to in the media, has an internal codename of “cloudripper” and is expected to be released with the model number GS201. It is also said to have an unreleased Samsung modem on board.

According to the report, the Tensor 2.0 could include an Exynos Modem 5300. However, as of now, Samsung has not released a modem with that name, so it is considered unreleased.

The first batch of Google Pixel 7 leaks have surfaced. According to recent reports, Google is hard at work on its 2nd Generation Tensor chipset. The chipset will power Google’s upcoming Pixel 7 series, which will include a Samsung 5300 Exynos Modem for connectivity. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be known as Cheeta and Panther, respectively. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, as previously stated, are powered by the Tensor GS101 chipset and are codenamed “Oriole” and “Raven.” According to 9to5Google, a Tensor processor with model number GS201 and codename “Cloudripper” is being tested.

Along with the Cloudripper, three other codenames are linked to the Exynos modem. Let’s start with two of them: Cheeta and Panther, which are rumoured to be the Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. Pixel devices have always been given a codename that is related to fish or other sea life. Beginning with the first Pixel smartphone, Sailfish, and ending with the last Pixel smartphone with a sea life codename, Pixel 5 with Redfin. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were codenamed Oriole and Raven, respectively. Following that are the Pixel 6a with Bluejay and the Pixel Notepad with Pipit, all of which are bird names.
