Mega retailer Walmart partners with Microsoft in a bid for TikTok
Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, said it’s teaming up with Microsoft in a bid for TikTok. The retail giant confirmed that it’s interested in purchasing the popular video-sharing application.
The US retail giant believes “a potential relationship” with TikTok US in collaboration with Microsoft could provide it with an important way to reach and serve omnichannel customers as well as grow its third-party marketplace and advertising businesses.
“We are confident that a Walmart and Microsoft partnership would meet both the expectations of US TikTok users while satisfying the concerns of US government regulators,” Walmart said.
TikTok’s Beijing-based owner ByteDance has been in talks to sell TikTok’s North American, Australian and New Zealand operations to companies including Microsoft and Oracle, sources revealed.
Since its global launch, Tiktok has attracted a huge following, especially amongst teenagers.
