Now, you’ll see more ads even when your YouTube video is paused
Advertising is definitely a key source of revenue for any company. Whether it’s Google or a small-time publisher, everyone needs funds to run their business. However, in the past couple of years, it seems that Google has shifted from being primarily a “search engine” to becoming more of an advertising company.
Recently, YouTube announced that ad blockers will no longer work on YouTube videos to block ads. Following this, they gradually targeted other apps that allowed ad-free YouTube video streaming. Now, YouTube has taken it a step further by giving advertisers even more power, allowing ads to appear even when videos are paused.
While advertisers may be pleased with this change, as Google’s Chief Business Officer, Phillip Schindler, mentioned in April that advertisers were happy with the new feature, viewers are not as thrilled. Many users have expressed their dissatisfaction, with some even taking to Reddit to share screenshots of the ads appearing on paused screens.
