Popular web-conferencing service, Microsoft Teams to stop working on Internet Explorer 11 from today
Internet Explorer 11 all set to bid goodbye to Microsoft’s popular web conferencing service, Teams since it would stop working, from today, November 30.
Earlier this year Microsoft had announced this change as a part of the company’s push to get the users using Microsoft Teams on Internet Explorer to move on to using Edge. Therefore, if you have been using Microsoft Teams on Internet Explorer so far, you will have to move to the Microsoft Edge browser to be able to continue to use the service.
Also, as per reports, by August 17 of next year, the Microsoft 365 services will no longer work on Internet Explorer 11. Therefore this “veteran” browser from the house of Microsoft would not only loose Microsoft Teams but also lose the access to Microsoft 365 services. From March 9 next year the legacy version of Microsoft Edge will also reach its end of support.
Earlier this year Microsoft announced all these changes via a blog post where the company had said that it wouldn’t scrap Internet Explorer 11 but the amount of mileage the user can get from the browser is going to be reduced greatly. Also, since the legacy version of Microsoft Edge is nearing its end of support, it would be an obvious fact that Microsoft is now going to focus entirely on the Chromium-powered version of Microsoft Edge instead.
The Microsoft Teams web app will no longer support IE 11 from November 30 2020 and the remaining Microsoft 365 apps and services will no longer support IE 11 from August 17 2021, Microsoft said in its blog post.
“While we know this change will be difficult for some customers, we believe that customers will get the most out of Microsoft 365 when using the new Microsoft Edge. We are committed to helping make this transition as smooth as possible,” the company explained.
