Spotify to now charge about $1 to $2 more from subscribers in new plans
Spotify, the popular audio streaming platform is now planning to increase the charge of various plans. According to reports, subscribers are likely to be charged an additional $1 to $2 per month, concerning their plan.
According to reports by Bloomberg, Spotify is increasing charges in part to add to the cost of featuring audiobooks to the streaming music services. Along with it, Spotify has plans to introduce a new category that does not feature audiobooks.
Earlier, Spotify added 15 hours of free audiobook streaming to their music subscription service. However, reports are now of the view that to cover the cost of the same, Spotify will offer a plan that does not feature audiobooks.
The reports are also of the view that Spotify is increasing the prices of plans to cover the increased cost of licensing music or to fund future complaints against Apple.
The reports asserted that Spotify will first introduce these new price changes to the markets of the UK, Australia, and Pakistan. Subsequently, subscribers in the United States will also be charged with these new increased prices.
Earlier in June 2023, Spotify changed the prices of their premium plans. The latest price changes in plans would mark the second price increase in one year by Spotify.
